About the Role
As a Network Security Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in network security practices and technologies. You will work closely with our network security team to assist in various projects and tasks related to securing our organization's network infrastructure.
• Monitor security alerts and logs generated by network security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) solutions. Help investigate and respond to security incidents as needed.
• Assist in conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify security weaknesses in the network infrastructure. Help prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities to improve the overall security posture.
• Assist in enforcing security policies and best practices to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA, GDPR). Help implement security controls and access controls to protect sensitive data.
• Assist in configuring and maintaining network security devices such as firewalls, VPNs, and access control lists (ACLs). Help ensure that network devices are properly configured and updated to mitigate security risks.
• Participate in security awareness training sessions to educate employees about cybersecurity best practices, phishing awareness, and social engineering tactics. Help promote a culture of security awareness within the organization.
• Assist in maintaining accurate documentation of security configurations, policies, procedures, and incidents. Help generate reports on security metrics, trends, and incidents for management review and regulatory compliance.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and developments in network security technologies and best practices. Assist in researching and evaluating new security products and solutions to enhance the effectiveness of the security infrastructure.
Requirements
· Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
· Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN). Familiarity with security tools and technologies is a plus but not required.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze security incidents and vulnerabilities.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
· Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges in the field of network security.
